I'm a correctional officer in Florida ,
working in a prison that at one time housed death row inmates.
I was on duty one night and conducting an
security inspection of the wing. Just as I was about to finish my
inspection when I heard a door slam shut. The door that I heard slam shut
was still open and the only other door was sealed shut years ago. When
I head that I just ruled it out as just another door closing. Just
a few seconds after the door slammed I heard a set of keys rattling down the
hall way that I was in - due to how thick the walls are, there is no
way I could have head someone else's keys, from another part of the
building.
The hall way is well lighted and there was no one
else there but me. At this point I became curious at all the
noises so I walked back to the other end of the hall. As I moved
closer to the sealed door the hall way became cold. This event
happened in August and the hall way was about ninety eight degrees
. Once I was next to the sealed door it felt like it was about sixty
degrees and at about that time I felt what I would call a breeze
- however all the windows were shut.
I decided that it was time for me to get out of
that hall way and as I turned to leave I heard the rattle of the keys get
closer to me and then I heard what sounded like a scream come from the
other side of the sealed door. when I heard the scream I ran out of the
hall thinking that there was a fellow officer on the other side of the door
and that they were in some sort of trouble.
I told my shift commander of the incident and he
gave me the keys to open the door. The shift commander and l both went to
open the door and only found a room that has not had anyone in it for quite
some time due to all the cob webs and dust, neither the dust nor the cob
webs has been disturbed for years. after getting a strange look from my
shift commander both of was leaving the room and both of us heard a set of
keys rattle and heard a voice say" they killed me for nothing".
Upon hearing that we both left that room in haste
and never returned and neither one of us has ever told anyone about the
incident for the fear of the jokes that would soon be to follow.
