Located off Lillian Highway in Pensacola, overlooks Perdido Bay. It
is a small cemetery with only thirty-three graves and has gone unnoticed for
many years. For over a year now, we have been drawn to this place.
As mentioned,
it only has thirty-three graves, seventeen of which are unmarked. We have
been told by a Milsted family member that most of the unmarked graves belong to
those who drowned in Perdido Bay. Sadly, eleven of the thirty-three graves
belong to children.
Our first
visit there wasn't a formal investigation, it was our first time venturing out
at night and we took our husbands with us. We arrived as the sun was
setting over the bay and had just enough light to look around a get a feel for
the place. We began talking as if there were actually other people (the human
element) there with us, it was July 3rd and we were talking about the holiday
and changes that had taken place over the years, anything from from wars to
music.
Armed with two
digital cameras and two 35 mm cameras we began taking random pictures of the
graves, the trees, fence line, and the highway. At the time, the cemetery
was quite overgrown but we were able to get some good pictures. We are
were quite surprised when we reviewed both the 35mm pictures and the digital
pictures. Orbs were present in almost every photo and not just an orb here
or there, it seemed they were everywhere.
The next night,
July 4th, we went back. We had gone by earlier in the day to chart the
conditions, whether the soil was loose and if the wind could have possibly blown
particles causing orbs. We found that the soil in that area was hard
packed. As anyone should do before beginning an outdoor actual
investigation, check the soil conditions, wind direction and wind speed.
There had not been any wind on the previous night, there was no wind and the
temperature was 90o. Conditions were the same on the 4th as
they were on the 3rd. We had not invested in EMF's or digital
audio recorders at that time but again, we got plenty of orbs.
Over the past few
years we have become quite familiar the cemetery and have also
found what remains of a very, very old home at the edge of the cemetery.
The area remained overgrown until early summer when someone came in with a bush
hog and cleared the area, that was when we first noticed the house. We
were there while they were clearing, taking pictures to see if we would get orbs
along with all the dust the bush hog generated. Not a single orb in any
picture.
On one of our
more recent visits, with fellow GHG Ghost Hunter Beth, we were able to capture
ecto and orbs in the same picture, how exciting! We took several more
pictures of the same area as soon as we realized we had gotten ecto and it
appeared in another photo. We captured a strange streak in a photo taken
by the old house.
We never have
negative feelings when we visit this cemetery, it seems as though we have a bond
with this place. Marlene and I have found that when we sing songs popular
to the era in which these spirits would have been alive, we get more activity as
far as pictures, temperature fluctuations, and EMF readings go. Although
we have no scientific proof, it's just our observation. 2001
