Glenn,
we would like to thank you for allowing us to post your photo, it is very
interesting. Several of us here at GHG have reviewed it and offer these
responses. As is usually the case, opinions vary, so who's right, who's
wrong, who knows? Thanks, again!
From
Karrie: Hey guys....well I looked at your pic in various
ways...black and white...negative...etc....and I can't explain the light
anomalies seen. It could be questioned as reflection because it was taken
in front of glass however if you look very carefully, you can see that the light
anomalies are transparent. In my experience...I would have to say.....possibly
vortex? I am awaiting a photo analysis CD. When I get it...I'll compare further
and update you if there are any changes.
From Kelley: It seems almost as if there was light
reflecting from some other surface that caught the camera lens. It just
seems like light reflection to me.
From Eric: If this was taken with a disposable
35mm, it could be anything!!! The most likely source is a crack in the cheap
plastic camera body, which is allowing stray ambient light into the camera.
Could also be some type of distortion in the plastic lenses. I have also seen
these anomalies on film that has been left in a car on a hot summer day!!!
From Earl: As I read this letter, and look at the
photograph it is hard to consider this photograph being taken outside. The first
thing I cannot see is why, if it were outside at 5 PM everything being so dark.
If you look in the left side of the photograph you see a window and it is very
bright, so why is everything else not? The white shirts behind are bright
the white shirt beside him is as well, but under the table and directly behind
him is dark. Look over his left shoulder, why is a flashlight there?
Enlarge it and look at it. It is a black barrel shape with a beam of light
coming from it. I would say that this photograph was inside, or on a covered
balcony or deck and that what you see are simply light reflections. A blue line
out lines the light, that is sort of typical for photographs taken near very
bright lights, also the light which shines through a window in early morning and
near sundown will have a blue tint or haze as well.
From Beth: I thought it was a very interesting
picture. It couldn't have been a camera strap or hair. I think it is
a very cool vortex. Looks good to me anyway. :-)
From Carol: I got all excited on my first viewing
of Glenn's picture at the wrestling match. It looked like two arms with
hands coming around to Russ's head. After blowing up the picture I could
see that there was a tent just outside of the area where they were standing
which made up the "image" of hands. As for the white glow with
blue on the edges, it does have a spiral effect like we would see if this
is a vortex. If it was hair, why would the color be so blue on the edges?
From April:
My first thought
was hair. If you look at the tent to the left, the flaps are turned upward
indicating a breeze and the ladies hair...look at how the wind has lifted
it up, out and back. With that wind direction, it could possibly be the
photographers hair blowing in front of the camera lens.
From Marlene:
If this was light blur or hair - why do we see the blue glow effect coming
closer to the people? I'm not sure it is either of those. If there
were scratches or cracks on the lens would the color change like that? I
would not think reflection would stop in the center like that either. Sure
would be a nice vortex pic if processing and mechanical problems can be ruled
out.
From Emmett:
I think being it was a 35mm disposable camera that it would have cheap film in
it....But I think it looks to me like you have nothing more then a glare from
your lens...
